Fox News reports, A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that Texas can cut off funding for Planned Parenthood clinics that provide health services to low-income women before a trial over a new law that bans state money from going to organizations tied to abortion providers.
This is a victory for life in a legal case brought by Planned Parenthood against the State of Texas. This court ruling affirms the state legislature’s power to remove taxpayer funding from abortion providers and their associates. Hopefully this will encourage other state legislatures to pass similar restrictions.
The Obama administration has used strong armed tactics to cut off Medicare & Medicaid funding from any state that defunds Planned Parenthood. However, Governor Rick Perry is undaunted and has vowed to offset any medicare reductions. He called the decision “a win for Texas women, our rule of law and our state’s priority to protect life.”
One of the most effective ways to end abortion in our country is for legislative bodies to drain federal, state and local tax money from Planned Parenthood. Even if money given to Planned Parenthood does not “fund abortions” it serves to keep their abortion clinics operational.
