On September 10, 2016, Students for Life of America is hosting a national Women Betrayed Protest to counter the “All Access” event at the Wolstein Center, featuring Sia, organized by Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the Whole Woman’s Health abortion business, and other abortion advocates. The protest will be a demonstration against an entire industry that has betrayed the very women they claim to help and protect when they push abortion above all else.
“This movement was born out of the gut reaction from the Center for Medical Progress videos released last summer showing Planned Parenthood executives callously discussing how much money they could get for the body parts of the babies they abort,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America. “Young women came out in droves to protest Planned Parenthood, showing their utter shock at the despicable ways in which the abortion industry sought to make a profit off of their crisis.”
The event in Cleveland will be held outside on the sidewalks in front of the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH at 5pm. Several displays with large banners that talk the havoc that Roe v. Wade has left on women, expose Planned Parenthood’s shady business practices, and show that there are better options than Planned Parenthood will be set up on the sidewalks.
This is the same industry that knew about Kermit Gosnell’s “House of Horrors” in Philadelphia, where he operated on women using dirty equipment, killed babies born alive after botched abortions, and had women die on his operating table. He currently sits in prison for his crimes but the abortion industry never outed him because “access” always trumps safety.
“To those who lead the abortion industry, all they care about is the bottom line, how much money can they possibly make off of every woman that enters their facility, safety be damned,” said Hawkins. “As long as the cash is flowing, the abortion facilities will remain open. This is an industry that thrives on telling women they can’t have a career and a child or can’t continue their education without aborting their child. That’s not empowerment; that’s misogyny.”
Whole Woman’s Health, the plaintiff in the recent Supreme Court case that challenged a Texas law which required abortion facilities to meet common sense medical standards, was ironically cited multiple times for health violations for everything from rusty suction machines to the failure to have licensed nurses to carelessly discarding sensitive patient information in the trash. The Supreme Court ruled in their favor in June.
“We want to tell women that they deserve better than abortion, better than being forced to go to sub-standard medical facilities with rusty equipment,” said Hawkins. “We want women to know that there are resources for them when facing unplanned pregnancies, and we, the pro-life movement, have always been there and will continue to be there for them as the abortion industry’s betrayal continues to happen.”
