National Pro-Life Chalk Day

Chalk 2

On September 6th, pro-lifers across the country descended upon campuses and communities with chalk in hand. In support of National Pro-Life Chalk Day, students and adults alike colored sidewalks with quotes, statistics, and images in an effort to spread the message of life in a fun and easy way.

While Students for Life received mostly positive reports from participating groups, several groups shared testimonies of opposition and vandalism. After a late night of chalking in preparation for this event, one group discovered that other students were defacing their display with buckets of water. Consequently, both involved parties were called in by administration to presumably discuss the repercussions of their actions. In another account, the pro-life group at a small, private, Christian college reported more severe damage to their display. Despite strict guidelines for student behavior, dissenting students had used permanent spray paint to write cuss words over a section of the chalked pro-life messages. Unfortunately, there has been no development in finding the students responsible for these actions.

Despite these incidents, National Pro-Life Chalk Day was ultimately a positive, successful experience for all those who participated. Throughout the day, Students for Life of America received dozens of pictures from our enthusiastic chalkers from all walks of life. Each image was a testament to the joyful spirit of our cause. Take a look at the pictures below to see the creative works of pro-lifers from all over the country!
