Pro-Life Students Make History in Wisconsin!

1

Ahead of the massive Wisconsin recall election yesterday, Students for Life of America launched our 2012 SFLA Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Initiative last weekend.

In the midst of graduations, the beginning of summer jobs and family vacations, we had an elite squad of passionate pro-lifers descend on Racine, WI as part of the SFLA GOTV Squad, partnering with Wisconsin Family Action, to educate voters on where each of the candidates stood on life and family issues in the historic recall election.

Our final numbers are not in yet, but our early estimates are that we reached over 10,000 voters in just 3 short days with only 17 passionate students. These are some pretty amazing numbers and show just how dedicated our students are.

And last night, pro-life, pro-family values won. And they won by a lot!

As the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization with over 720 groups and counting, we at Students for Life are in a unique position in that we spend our days and nights identifying, training, and building relationships with pro-life students all across this country.

And while many folks tend to doubt the impact young people can have in the political process and question why they should support an organization that focuses solely on equipping young leaders. Those of us on the SFLA team know that we are the only national pro-life group with this unique capability, and we have stepped up and taken the steps necessary to energize and mobilize pro-life youth in what will be an historic election year.

This weekend was a prime example of the power and importance of pro-life youth mobilization. And our students were so excited to play a role in yesterday’s election — making sure our pro-life values were strongly represented at the polls.

We are excitedly planning a larger GOTV program this fall. Contact Brendan O’Morchoe at brendan@studentsforlife.org if you are interested.
