Pastor and Pro-Life leaders arrested today at the White House during a prayer vigil for oppressed human rights activist, Chen Guangcheng, known for speaking out against China’s policy of forced abortion.  Pro-Life and Human Rights advocates gathered today at the White House to ask Secretary of State Clinton and President Obama to take action now on behalf of Chen Guangcheng and his family as the Chinese government has continued to increase pressure on Chen and his family – most recently threatening bodily harm to Chen’s wife if he did not submit and leave the sanctuary of the US Embassy in China.

“While China has begun to make statements that they will allow Chen and his family to travel abroad – the Guangcheng family is not safe and this does not end until they are on American soil.  Chen is a pro-life hero and for our Assistant Director and the President of the pro-life group at Liberty University, along with a pastor and other leaders, to stand with him through arrest shows our government the seriousness of the abuses of forced abortion in China and the importance of protecting human rights activists like Chen Guangcheng,” stated Kristan Hawkins, Executive Director of Students for Life after hearing of the arrests.
