House Passes Second Continuing Resolution without Pro-Life Language

Date Posted March 15, 2011

Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass a Continuing Resolution to fund the government past Friday, March 18th. Members of Congress voted for the bill even though it did not contain pro-life language de-funding Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Upon the passage of the bill, Kristan Hawkins, SFLA’s Executive Director, commented:

“The House’s vote today to pass the short term CR bill once again shows that there are still members of the House who are still, outrageously, willing to fund Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the nation. We thank and commend the Members of Congress who voted against the CR bill. In the coming weeks, Students for Life will continue to work alongside other members of the Expose Planned Parenthood Coalition to ensure that all subsequent CR stopgap spending bills include the Pence Amendment to de-fund Planned Parenthood. Every day that Congress continues to fund Planned Parenthood over 950 preborn children are killed, 950 women victimized, and almost one million taxpayers dollars spent.”
