Kristan Hawkins speaking at the Carhart Press Conference
The following is an excerpt from Kristan Hawkins’ speech at the Carhart Press Conference this morning:
“This generation refuses to accept LeRoy Carhart’s vision of the world. We refuse to buy into the lie that in order to achieve equality or in order to complete our education or to be successful in our careers that we must kill our own children and allow men like him to violate our bodies.
And for those who say that LeRoy Carhart’s ‘services’ are necessary to terminate those children in the womb who have a genetic or physical disability, I say to you, who should be the ultimate judge? Who should judge who has more value than another person?
LeRoy Carhart and those like him are the Nazi executioners of our generation. Children like my son Gunner who have CF, a rare genetic disability, have the same right to Life as you or I. Yet LeRoy Carhart and his ‘associates’ would justify tearing my son from limb to limb and crushing his skull in the name of reproductive justice, claiming that brutally murdering him is morally permissible. This happens everyday across America as 90% of CF children are aborted.
Our generation refuses to accept this and I refuse to accept this. We seek real social justice today, justice for all. We will stand together and we mist continue to do so until LeRoy Carhart is kicked out of our community.
As Martin Luther King once said, ‘He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.’ We will not be accomplices, but will work to remove LeRoy Carhart from this community for ever.”
